Summer Employment

Summer is a busy time for University Housing with camps and conferences staying in our residence halls. University Housing is looking for proactive, energetic student leaders willing to foster community, represent the campus well, and ensure that our many guests have a great experience while at Appalachian State University. Below are our summer employment opportunities:

Conference Assistant

Conference Assistants (CAs) are primarily responsible for providing customer service to summer camps and conferences at Appalachian. CAs are responsible for a variety of administrative and customer service functions including participating in the check-in and check-out of conference guests, conducting room checks, completing paperwork, inventorying room keys, serving on-call for buildings occupied by guests, and responding to guest needs. Applications for this position open February 5, 2024, and are open until filled. Orientation and training for this position begins on May 22, 2024.

Lead Conference Assistant

Lead Conference Assistants (LCAs) are returning CAs, RAs, other Housing staff, and student leaders who assist Conference Directors with administrative and leadership responsibilities in addition to working as CAs. LCAs are responsible for a variety of administrative and customer service functions including scheduling, serving on-call, coordinating the check-in and check-out of guests, conducting room checks, completing paperwork, inventorying room keys, and responding to guest needs. Applications for this position open February 5, 2024, and are open until filled. Orientation and training for this position begins on May 21, 2024.

Conference Director

Conference Directors are experienced staff who supervise and lead CAs and LCAs. Often current or incoming graduate students, CDs work closely with University Housing leadership to organize and implement summer programs, work closely with LCAs to conduct staff meetings and create schedules, and lead CAs in assisting guests. Applications for this position open February 5, 2024, and are open until filled. Orientation and training for this position begins on May 20, 2024.

Facilities Assistant

Facilities Assistants (FAs) are primarily responsible for providing summer support to the three areas of University Housing Facilities (Housekeeping, Support Services, and Maintenance). FAs have specific responsibilities based on which area they work with, and work closely with full-time facilities staff members. Applications for this position open on February 14, 2024, and close on March 3, 2024. Training for this position beings on May 20, 2024.
