Where's My Package?
Students receive packages at both the University Post Office and the East/West Service Desks. The University Post Office is located in the Miles Annas Student Services Building. Any Appalachian State University student with a campus mailbox can receive United States Postal Service (USPS) or UPS packages sent to a campus P.O. Box address.
The East and West Service Desks accept UPS, FedEx, and DHL packages for students living on campus. The East Service Desk is located in Appalachian Hall and accepts packages for students living in the following residence halls: Appalachian Panhellenic Hall (APH), Cannon, Cone, Doughton, East, Hoey, Lovill, Summit, and White. Students may also purchase postage and ship packages via USPS at the University Post Office main window during regular hours of operation.
For students' convenience, there is a print station located at each of the Service Desks. Instructions for using the print stations are available for download below (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader ):
Residents who lock themselves out of their rooms now have an additional option available to them. Resident Assistant (RA) staff are available at night from 7:00pm - 7:00am for residents who lock themselves out of their rooms. Residents may also go to the service desk for their particular side of campus during its regular operating hours to check out a temporary key for their room (Appalachian ID required). These temporary keys must be returned by 8:00am the next business day; otherwise, University Housing will automatically change the lock on the door and charge the student's account for the amount of the lock change.
Inclement Weather Policy
If the university closes due to inclement weather concerns, the Service Desks will also close. During that time, residents who are locked out will need to locate the RA on duty for their building. If the university cancels classes but remains open, the Service Desks will continue to operate as normal and staff will make every attempt to report to work. However, if conditions, especially overnight, prevent our student workers from safely reporting for their shifts then the Service Desks will be closed. Questions or concerns about this policy may be directed to University Housing at (828)262-2160.
