Residence Hall Association
The Mission of RHA
The mission of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) is to provide the resources necessary to meet resident needs and to enhance living and learning in residence halls through diverse leadership opportunities, quality programs, and inclusive community involvement. As an organization, RHA strives to empower the residents by maintaining a means for them to voice their opinions at the campus, state, regional, and national levels. Holding true to this, RHA will successfully establish goals to continue to uphold the high standards set forth by Appalachian State University.
What Is RHA?
RHA of Appalachian is a recognized student organization which, together with University Housing, is committed to the holistic development of resident students. RHA serves as a separate entity dedicated to the representation of the on-campus student body. The core values of RHA are:
- Visibility on campus
- Genuine care for student needs
- Inclusiveness
- Respectful attention to student leadership duties
- Student advocacy
What Does RHA Do?
RHA is responsible for campus-wide programming, Hall Council development, and student advocacy within the residence halls. RHA exists to support students' leadership skills and hear student concerns with where they live and what they would like to do for programming. RHA works hard to provide a space for engagement and community for students that live on campus. RHA also hosts several conferences throughout the year which provide an opportunity for students to meet and learn from other student leaders across campus.
Involvement Opportunities
All members of the residential student population at Appalachian are already a part of RHA. As members students are welcome to attend any RHA meetings, functions, or group activities. Students may also want to join their Hall Council as a formal member or simply attend their in-hall programs and events. Students interested in Hall Council may speak with either their Hall Supervisor or a Resident Assistant (RA).
