Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) at Appalachian State University provide students with a unique housing opportunity. One of the best ways to develop strong friendships and succeed in college is to join a residential learning community!
We offer several options for students to choose from including RLCs focused on particular majors, those linked to a specific First Year Seminar (UCO 1200) course and others with a focus on a particular student interest. RLCs that are linked to a course and sponsored by a specific college or academic department afford students an academic learning experience outside of the classroom in a fun and educational setting. Each course is led by a faculty member with a unique syllabus and specific learning objectives in mind. Students in RLCs linked to a course will automatically be enrolled in a section of the required course(s) by the Coordinator for Academic Initiatives & Residential Learning Communities.
Please review each community description carefully as the application process for RLCs may differ slightly depending upon whether an individual is a new, incoming freshman or a returning student. At this time, transfer students are only able to apply for the Transfer Educators community and the Transfer RLC. If you are a transfer student, please review these two RLCs for further information.
