What Should I Bring With Me?

Below are just a few suggestions that you may consider bringing with you when you move in:

Bedroom Items:
  • Sheets (wait until you receive your room assignment to know which size is appropriate)
  • Mattress pad
  • Pillows, blankets, comforter
Small Appliances:
  • Microwave oven (one microwave is permitted per room; must not exceed 1200 watts or 10 amps.  Rooms equipped with MicroFridges® may not have additional microwaves, and additional microwaves are not permitted in Appalachian Heights due to the presence of a full kitchen in each apartment)
  • Small refrigerator (one small refrigerator is permitted per room; must not exceed 1200 watts or 10 amps.  Rooms equipped with MicroFridges® may not have additional refrigerators, and additional refrigerators are not permitted in Appalachian Heights due to the presence of a full kitchen in each apartment)
Room Decoration:
  • Carpet or rug (rooms in APH, App Heights, Mountaineer, Doughton, Gardner, LLC, Lovill, Newland, and White are already carpeted)
  • Posters, poster putty, painter's tape
  • Pictures of friends and family
  • Dry-erase board and markers
  • Storage containers
  • One UL-approved power strip (maximum of 6 sockets)
  • Book shelf
  • Alarm clock, radio, iPod, CD player, headphones, digital cable-ready TV
  • Free-standing fan
Personal Items:
  • Flip-flops (for the shower)
  • Umbrella and rain coat
  • Boots
  • Towels, washcloths
  • Toiletries
  • Bicycle with U-lock
  • Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
  • Cell phone
  • Clothes hangers
  • Laundry basket
  • Trash can
  • Shower caddy
  • Mop, broom, cleaning supplies
  • Prescriptions - up to date and filled (including glasses & contacts)
